While it is true that you mustn’t feed anything and everything from your regular meal to your four-legged family member, there are a few pantry items that are absolutely cat-safe!

Each eatable is equivalent to natural cat food. Of course, most of your cats diet should be cat food, these make great treat options. Without further ado, let’s dive into the article to know what they are!

  1. Spinach (Extensively Used in Premium Cat Food)

Spinach is rich in multi-vitamins including Vitamin A, C, and K along with calcium, iron, and a lot of other essential minerals. You would find spinach listed in a majority of canned cat food containers. 

  1. Salmon

Salmon fish is a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids plus it tastes amazing! Your kitty would love it, for sure. Always feed cooked salmon to your cat, sushi is definitely out for your cat.

  1. Chicken

As a matter of fact, cats are obligate carnivores. They do need animal meat to thrive. Chicken can source a good amount of lean protein in their body (only if cooked properly). Almost all natural cat food has chicken as one of the main ingredients. Small amounts of lean deli meat is also okay to give to your cat.

  1. Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe contains beta-carotene and antioxidants which is very helpful to secure the eye health and skin health of your cat.

  1. Pumpkin

Wondering if your kitty can eat pumpkin? Yes. You can definitely feed them pumpkin and it is absolutely safe. Along with managing gut mobility, it can treat abnormal stools of your cat.

  1. Peas

Peas are another veggie which is cat-safe. It is high in Vitamins A and C and in fiber. It is also commonly found in commercial cat foods.

  1. Banana

Bananas are marked as a healthy snack for your kitty, but you should feed them in moderation. They have high potassium and fiber content and improve digestion in cats just like humans.  Another option is banana bread for your kitty.

  1. Bread

‘Bread isn’t good for cats’ is nothing but a myth! Once in a while, you can allow your kitty to snack on bread and it is completely okay.  However, do not give them bread dough if you are baking fresh bread or pizza crusts.

  1. Cheese

It is true that 90% of cats are lactose intolerant but giving some cheese once in a blue moon won’t do any harm. You can give them hard cheese like Swiss, Cheddar, etc. in very small amounts. 

  1. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is another cat-friendly human food that you can give your cat without any doubt. Although your feline might reject it due to its taste but it is safe.

  1. Apples

Just like bananas, you can also feed apples to your cat. But make sure to remove the apple’s skin before feeding your cat.  Also, be sure not to give your cat the core of the apple.  The seeds contain cyanogenic glycoside, which is not good for them.
